C.G.E. – Certified Gas Engineers
ASGE’s Certified Gas Engineer program was started in 2002 to help identify those individuals with special expertise in the gas appliance industry. Since its inception it has evaluated more than 120 individuals.
The purpose of the program is to certify individuals who have knowledge of the practice of fuel gas safety and who have been trained in the art and science of fuel gas engineering.
Individuals qualify to be a C.G.E. by taking a test. Tests are given several times a year to qualified candidates.
The C.G.E. written examine requires applicants to be knowledgeable in the following areas:
- Chemistry of Gas Combustion
- Combustion Characteristic of Gas Burners
- Gas Controls and Ignition System
- Gas Appliance Codes and Standards
- Procedures for obtaining certification of gas appliances
