AGA Files Support for the ASHRAE Proposals to Add Coverage for Space Heating Gas-fired Heat Pumps and Water Heating Gas-fired Heat Pumps to the ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2022, Energy Standard for Sites and Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.

In the July 25^th Update on End Use Codes and Standards, we provided the ASHRAE public review drafts for adding coverage in the ASHRAE 90.1 energy standard for commercial buildings,  gas-fired space heating heat pumps  (Addendum dl) and gas-fired water heating heat pumps  (Addendum dm} for a 30-day review and comment to ASHRAE by August 17.  We provided a summary of both Addendum dl and Addendum dm and online access and information and requested BECS Committee members to provide feedback to us by August 7.  Based on AGA staff review and BECS Committee member feedback recommending support for inclusion of both Addendum dl and Addendum dm into the ASHRAE 90.1 standard that recognize the benefits of adding the coverage for both space heating and water heating gas-fired heat pumps,  AGA submitted responses supporting both addendum for inclusion into the ASHRAE 90.1 standard.  We also recommended some editorial modifications on both addendums. We will provide updates on the processing of the addendums as they go through the ASHRAE approval process and wish to express our appreciation for the BECS Committee members who provided the requested feedback on the addendums.

The Second Draft Meeting for the Development of the 2027 National Fuel Gas Code Scheduled for October 7-9, 2025, in Charleston, SC –Public Comments Available for Review.   

The Second Draft Meeting for the development of the 2027 National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) will take place from October 7 – 9, 2025, at the Charleston Marriott, Charleston, SC. Attached are the Public Comments received on proposed changes to the NFGC that will be discussed at the meeting. AGA staff is in the process of reviewing the Public Comments and BECS Committee members are also requested to review and provide feedback on the proposals by September 15^th.  We will be discussing the proposals during the upcoming BECS Committee meeting in Bozeman, MT on September 17 & 18, 2025 .
