Update on the International Code Council (ICC) Conference and Code Hearings Scheduled for Long Beach, CA,  October 23 to October 31 – Public Comments on Proposals Available.

As a reminder, the ICC Conference will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center on October 20 – 23, the Expo on October 20 – 21 and the Committee Action Code Hearings from October 23 – 31. Yesterday, the ICC published all of the 2024 Group A proposed changes including public comments submitted on the ICC Code Change Committees from the code hearings held in Orlando this past April including proposals to the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) .  Attached are the public comments submitted on the IFGC. Of particular interest for natural gas applications are the modifications to FG11-24 Part 1 to add coverage for hydrogen blending into natural gas distribution systems.  In addition, attached are modified proposals to the International Fire Code (IFC) F152-24 that provides“ guidance for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) who seek to utilize fuel gas detection and limits installation to Residential (Group R)  new buildings” The proposed changes to F152-24 modifies the initial proposal that would mandate combustible gas detectors in new and existing residential buildings. Note that final actions on the proposed changes to the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) will be heard on Monday, October 28, 2024.  The complete Monogram for all proposal for the 2024 Group A codes can be found here. AGA staff continues to review all proposals to assess any potential impacts that they may have on the direct use of natural gas in homes and business and BECS members are requested to provide feedback on the proposal by October 1.
