AGA 2023 Appliance Operating Cost and Emissions Comparison Study Shows the Benefits of the Direct Use of Natural Gas in Homes and Businesses.

This AGA study evaluates the critical differences in estimated annual energy cost and emissions for many common home appliances that use natural gas or rely on other forms of energy. The analysis shows that a typical new home that uses natural gas saves consumers money on energy bills and lowers greenhouse emissions, even compared to high-efficiency all-electric homes. The direct use of natural gas in residential applications can significantly reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions compared with electricity and fuel oil.   There is also a write-up on the study on the AGA True Blue Blog , titled “Natural Gas Homes are Lowest-Cost and Lowest-Emissions, Even Compared to Homes with Electric Cold-Climate Heat Pumps”. Questions may be directed to Brendan O’Brien, Senior Manager, Energy Analysis | [email protected].

Please feel free to share this study and particularly the appliance annual operating cost (based on 2022 DOE representative national averages)  and emissions comparisons as you see fit.

DOE Issues a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Request for Comment Pertaining to the Compliance Date for Manufactured Housing Energy Standards.

Today,  Department of Energy (DOE) issued a pre-publication Federal Register notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) to amend the compliance date for its manufactured housing energy conservation standards. Currently, manufacturers must comply with these standards on and after May 31, 2023. DOE is proposing to delay this compliance date to allow DOE more time to establish enforcement procedures that provide clarity for manufacturers and other stakeholders.  DOE will accept comments, data, and information regarding this NOPR until 30 days after date of publication in the Federal Register. The docket for this rulemaking, which includes Federal Register notices, comments, and other supporting documents/materials, is available for review at www.regulations.gov. Comments are to be submitted to the docket www.regulations.gov/docket?D=EERE- 2009-BT-BC-0021. Additional product information can be found here Manufactured Housing including current standards and test procedures, statutory authority, waivers, exceptions and contact information. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions on the NOPR.
