Today, the American Gas Association (AGA), American Public Gas Association (APGA), National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce file comments (attached) in support of a joint request filed by the Alliance to Save Energy, Business Council for Sustainable Energy, and the U.S. Green Building Council on January 17, 2023 to extend the public comment period by 30 days to the December 21, 2022 DOE Federal Register Notice Supplemental Notice of Rulemaking (SNOPR), Request for Information Clean Energy for New Federal Buildings and Major Renovations of Federal Buildings. In last weeks, Update on End Use Codes and Standards, we provided a draft outline of comments on the DOE new proposed rule to electrify federal buildings by phasing out on-site natural gas usage with comments due on January 26. We will provide the DOE response to the extension request when available.
Senator Ted Cruz Request Detailed Information from Consumer Product Safety Committee (CPSC) Commissioner Richard L. Trumka, Jr. on the CPSC’s Ban of Gas Range Activities.
Last week, we reported on congressional activity directed at the CPSC on a possible ban on gas ranges. We provided the January 13th letters sent from House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris-Rodgers to Chairman Hoehn-Saric of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and from 87 House Republicans to President Biden in response to administration activity against natural gas and natural gas ranges. This week, Senator Ted Cruz sent a January 25, 2023 letter to CPSC Commissioner Richard L. Trumka, Jr. requesting detailed information on the Commissioner’s office directed at banning gas ranges. We will report on the Commissioner’s response when available.
