DOE Building Technologies Office (BTO) Activities.

Many of the recent BECS Committee Updates on End Use Codes and Standards have dealt with DOE activities promoting electrification, decarbonization, support for state and local model energy code adoptions etc., all impacting the direct use of natural gas.  This week, the Building Technologies Office’s announced that it will host a 2024 Peer Review in-person event at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, on Oct. 21–24, 2024. According to the announcement,  BTO will be “showcasing active research and projects that support BTO missions and goals of producing high-performing and energy-efficient residential and commercial buildings.” Also, “the sessions will explore the effectiveness of current projects, identify designs for future collaborations, and facilitate industry networking opportunities.” In addition to attending the 2024 Peer Review BECS Committee in October, members are encouraged to review the BTO site including the Building Energy Code Program. This is a good site to obtain details on the DOE programs that impact natural gas applications.
