Status of the Proposed 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) Appeals.
Today, the ICC reported the following information and schedule on the status of the appeals on the 2024 IECC. “As noted at the Appeals Board Hearing and on the website, the 2024 IECC Appeals Board will develop a report to be given to the ICC CEO. The ICC CEO will forward the report to the Board of Directors for review and deliberation. The Appeals Board Report to the Board and details on the related ICC Board of Directors Meeting will be posted on the website Monday (March 4, 2024).”

We will provide an update on the recommendations from the ICC Appeals Board Report and the continuing process and schedule when available.
Update on the International Code Council’s Committee Action Hearings Scheduled for April 7-16, 2024 in Orlando, FL – International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) Code Action Committee to Meet on April 10th.
The International Code Council has released a monograph of the 2024 Group A proposed changes to the 2024 International Codes® (I-Codes) that will be presented during the Committee Action Hearings (CAH) held from April 7-16, 2024, at the Doubletree by Hilton Universal Orlando in Orlando, FL and a final hearing on October 23-31, 2024, in Long Beach, CA. You can view the 2024/2025/2026 Code Development schedule here. Of particular interest to the gas industry are proposed code changes to the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) listed in the monograph along with other ICC Codes and all are open for public review, allowing those interested to express their opinions on the changes to the relevant code committees and other stakeholders. AGA representatives and BECS Committee members on the IFGC Code Change Committee are Chris Byers, Piedmont Natural Gas, Kevin Carney SoCal Gas & San Diego Gas and Electric Company, Ralph Euchner, Dominion Energy, Andrea Lanier Papageorge, Southern Company Gas, Stanley Smith, Oak Ridge Utilities District and Jason Stanek Metropolitan Utilities District. The code committees will conduct public hearings to hear comments and arguments both in favor of and against the proposed changes. Anyone wishing to testify regarding the published changes must either attend these hearings or have representation.

AGA BECS Committee staff will be reviewing the proposed changes to the IFGC as well as changes to the other ICC Codes to assess the impact they may have on the direct use of natural gas applications. BECS Committee members are also requested to review all of the proposals and provide feedback to us by April 1st.
